About me and my blog

Hi. I'm Susie. Welcome to my blog!

I have two children who are 10 and 6. In my day job I am a solicitor.  I am also a trustee of Pregnancy Sickness Support.

Five facts about me:

1. My vices: I eat too much chocolate, drink too much coffee and don't get enough sleep.

2. I taught myself to juggle and can juggle three balls at once (four on a good day).

3. My grandma appeared in Coronation Street.

4. I lived and worked in Prague for a year.

5. I unintentionally dived with a shark - the diving was planned but the shark most certainly wasn't!

In 2014 I took part in Pregnancy Sickness Support's Nine Months Of... campaign to raise funds and awareness for the charity. For nine months, I attended different groups and events to increase awareness of HG and Pregnancy Sickness Support.  At the end of the nine months, I held a fundraising coffee afternoon to coincide with HG Awareness Day.

The charity provides information and support to woman suffering nausea and vomiting of pregnancy and the extreme form of this known as hyperemesis gravidarum or "HG".

I suffered from HG during both my pregnancies but at the time I did not know about Pregnancy Sickness Support and the fantastic work that it does.  This is why I want to do what I can to raise awareness of HG and the charity in the hope that this will help other sufferers to get the help, support and treatment they need.

In 2015 I embarked on a new challenge - my first triathlon - to raise money for Pregnancy Sickness Support. This was way out of my comfort zone and was a massive challenge for me. I wrote about my progress on this blog.

In 2016 I completed three challenges. You can find out more about them here.

In 2017, I'm on a mission to get others involved by taking on challenges and raising money for Pregnancy Sickness Support. With this in mind, I put together a campaign for the charity setting out 12 months of events and ideas to raise money and awareness. I am also very excited that a team of trustees, volunteers and their families will be joining me in taking part in the 8.5 mile Great Midlands Fun Run on 4th June.

    1. Thank you Claire. I'm so pleased you enjoyed reading my blog. I have spotted your blog posts on the Triathlon England website before and have been following your progress!! It was great to read about a fellow newbie going through the same challenge as me at the same time. I remember reading the account of your 1st triathlon when I was feeling exhausted from all my training not long before my own triathlon. It really inspired me to keep going - so thank you! I'm looking forward to reading your September blog. Susie xx PS I have also appeared on the Triathlon England website - http://www.triathlonengland.org/news/this_girl_can_-_april_5489!!
